We all know about back-to-school tax-free weekend in August, but now’s the time of year to gear up on all things garden: May 27-29 marks the annual Texas Water-Efficient Products Sales Tax Holiday. That means items including plants, trees, and grasses, soil and mulch, drip irrigation systems, and rain barrels are all free of tax this weekend, along with WaterSense- and ENERGY STAR-labeled products. According to the comptroller, there is no limit on the number of qualifying items you can buy, and you do not need to give the seller an exemption certificate to buy items tax-free (for more details head here).

So channel your inner coastal grandmother and head to your favorite garden center—read on for six of ours.
